| Our Robotics Teams did a Great Job.! |

On March 28-29, HSANA competed in the 2013 Alamo-FIRST region FTC(First Tech Challenge) robotics competition at San Antonio. There nearly 60 teams who had won at their local qualifying tournament competed for the chance to go to the FTC World Championship tournament in St.Louis. Two of these teams were HSANA's own. In the Naylor division, Team 4002 advanced to the semi-finals in their division and in the Kane division Team 6361 advanced to the final match to be part of the winning alliance at the FTC Alamo Region FTC Championship. Team 4002 consisted of Kaustubh L., Tyler T., Paras A., and Guru S., and Harris B. Teams 6361 consisted of Oscar F., Mario G., Sushith G., Gowrish V., and Farris B. We are very proud of our robotics teams for bravely competing in the difficult competition. We are really sad for losing the World Championship Tournament tragically in last minute, but We have got the Winning Alliance Trophy and returned victorious and proud of both of our teams for having fought so valiantly against such vicious competition. One can only wonder about the things to come. We would like to thank Ms. Gutierrez and Mr. Coskuner along with the parents of many of the students for coming along to cheer us on. Also we would like to thank Mr. Flores, Mr. Senthil, Mr. Gallegos, and Mr. Lahiri for helping the teams throughout the year, and allowing our students to reach such great lengths with their robots. Finally we would like to thank Harmony Public Schools and Administrator for their generosity and funding, without which none of this would have been possible.

| HSA-NA HOME VISIT PROGRAM |
|
Overall goal of home visiting is to help strengthen relationships between parents and teachers. Home visiting programs are an effective way for teachers to get parents involved in their child's education and to let parents and children know how much they care. However, home visits are only the beginning. Harmony Science Academy - North Austin embraces the idea of parents as partners and actively involves parents into education. We experienced immediate benefits of home visiting. As parent and teacher relationships improved, and kids at the home visit campuses began doing better academically and socially. | STEM Festival |
|
HSANA's STEM Festival Expo & Open House kicked off with a ceremonial opening by the high school Drumline. HSANA's first STEM Festival proved successful as parents saw what our students are doing and how much fun learning can be. Demonstrations by our students, included physics, chemistry, biology, and robotics demonstrations, with art exhibits, games and competitions, and international foods. Even superintendent, Ramazan Coskuner, participated in the spirit of the festival and was seen with a boa constrictor around his neck at one of the Biology demonstrations. Special thanks go out to Dr. Wyatt and the STEM committee, as well as all the teachers and students whose efforts made the festival a fabulously fun, exciting, and significantly educational learning experience!

| Four Harmony Campuses Made into the Challenge Index |
|
Washington Post has announced its Most Challenging High Schools list of 2012. Four Harmony high schools made the Challenge Index and three of them in the top 100 out of 1900 schools in the list.
The Challenge Index of Washington Post ranks high schools since 1998 based on the student achievement on IB, AP, and college level tests (SAT, ACT, etc.) and graduation rates. The index score is the number of college-level tests given at a school in 2011 divided by the number of graduates that year. Also noted are the percentage of students who come from families that qualify for lunch subsidies (Subs. lunch) and the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career, called equity and excellence, (E&E). A (P) next to the school's name denotes a private school.

| Letter to Key Stakeholders Regarding The New York Times Article |
|
From Superintendent Dr. Soner Tarim To the Harmony Public Schools Community: A disappointing article on charter schools in this week's New York Times attempts to put Harmony Public Schools in Texas in a context that is not accurate, necessitating this brief response. Many of us at Harmony Schools cooperated extensively with the Times on this story over the last several months, providing documents, interviews, tours and dozens of detailed responses to specific questions in good faith. But, as sometimes happens, the end result was not entirely what we had hoped.
